Datavail Announces 2019 “Hyperion Hero” Award Winner

HOUSTON – May 8, 2019 - Datavail, a leading provider of data, applications and analytics services, has named Mark Marsicano, Oracle Administrator for Daseke, Inc., the winner of its first “Hyperion Hero” Award contest.

Launched in March of this year, the Hyperion Hero Award contest sought to shine a light on the challenges faced and successes achieved by Hyperion administrators and managers.  Often overlooked and behind the scenes, these unsung heroes are a vital part of keeping businesses running.

Oracle’s Hyperion Financial Management is an enterprise software application that delivers financial consolidation, reporting and analysis, and is used by many of the world’s largest companies.

Datavail reached out to Hyperion Administrators, Finance executives and CIOs across the country to find the best candidate for the award, which included a travel certificate for $5,000.

Daseke, Inc. is the largest flatbed and specialized transportation and logistics company in North America. Daseke offers comprehensive, best-in-class services to many of the world’s most respected industrial shippers through experienced people, a fleet of approximately 6,000 tractors and 13,000 flatbed and specialized trailers, and a million-plus square feet of industrial warehousing space. Marsicano, who works in the company’s corporate headquarters in Houston, joined Daseke two years ago as an Essbase administrator. A year later, he undertook the Oracle implementation of ERP cloud, including two Hyperion financial modules, working alongside the Corporate Controller. The clincher? While most Hyperion Managers run and maintain their systems with two hands, Marsicano did it with just one.

“Mark literally helped with the Oracle implementation ‘single-handedly’ for quite some time last year. He had injured himself and worked with only one hand for over a month while a finger injury was healing and he was in a cast!” said Amanda Hemker, Vice President and Corporate Controller for Daseke in her nomination.
