MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Nov. 22, 2006 - ProVation® Medical, part of Wolters Kluwer Health, announced today that Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS) selected its ProVation® MD software for Gastroenterology and Pain Management documentation and coding, as well as its ProVation® MultiCaregiver software for Gastroenterology and Pain Management perioperative documentation. ProVation’s Gastroenterology software is currently in use at Carolinas Medical Center, Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville, and Carolinas Surgery Center; the new rollout will bring the software to ten additional CHS locations.

ProVation® MD software for multi-specialty procedure documentation and coding compliance replaces the current dictation/transcription approach and streamlines the coding and billing process. Driven by deep medical content, ProVation MD allows clinicians to quickly and completely document medical procedures and apply the appropriate CPT and ICD codes, as well as CCI edits. ProVation MultiCaregiver software delivers multispecialty perioperative documentation, streamlining workflow by intelligently reusing data at various points while automatically retrieving data from multiple IT systems

CHS is the largest healthcare system in the Carolinas, and the third-largest public system in the nation. It has been honored by Hospital & Health Networks magazine for three straight years as one of the nation’s “most wired” systems, and was recently named in the “Information Week 500.” The list recognizes companies considered the most innovative users of technology.

“CHS is committed to embracing information technology as a means to control costs and enhance the quality of patient care,” said Mike Nelson, Vice-President of Information Services at CHS. “Our decision to rollout ProVation MD to additional locations and specialties was influenced by the software’s proven ability to help us achieve these objectives.”

“CHS is one of the most prominent regional healthcare centers in the country, and has been a valued ProVation customer since 2003,” said Arvind Subramanian, President & CEO, Wolters Kluwer Health Clinical Solutions and ProVation Medical. “Their decision to expand usage of ProVation software to additional facilities and medical specialties is validation that our multi-specialty platform is aligned with the key enterprise initiatives of hospitals, health systems and ASCs across the country.”
