Air Quality Awareness Week Shines Light on Importance of Air Quality

This year marks the 13th annual Air Quality Awareness Week, which is held from April 29 - May 3, 2019.

Cinnaminson, NJ – WEBWIRE

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S. Department of State Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that Air Quality Awareness Week (AQAW) is April 29, 2019 – May 3, 2019. The slogan of Air Quality Awareness Week is “Check the AQI and Get Outside”. This year marks the 13th annual Air Quality Awareness Week.

Both outdoor and indoor air quality are of great significance to a person’s health. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is an online tool started by https://airnow.gov/ that when high levels of air pollution are predicted it calculates how air pollution affects their health. With concerns about how an industrial site can impact the surrounding environment it is important to create proactive testing and monitoring plans. Officials in charge of potential source sites can then fully grasp the impact they might have on the surrounding environment, and take the appropriate steps to minimize or eliminate that impact.

“Air Quality Awareness Week is the perfect opportunity for people to educate themselves on the importance of the air we breathe every day,” said Joe Frasca, Senior Vice President of Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “People don’t realize that clean air is important and can be detrimental if it’s not, so having an entire week dedicated to bringing awareness to that is great.”

AQAW is determined to educate everyone about poor air quality and the health effects it could cause. They are sponsoring many events during the week of April 29 – May 3 to inform as many people as possible in order to prevent premature sicknesses and deaths from occurring. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breathing in polluted air from both outdoor and indoor sources causes an estimated seven million premature deaths a year.
