A legacy worth preserving and sharing!

What is the best way to leave a legacy? Share stories and publish them in a book. Clarence E. “Kip” Vold did just that with his autobiography “Farmer’s Son, Military Career” (Page Publishing; 2015).
The author, who was born and raised in South Dakota and currently residing in California, revisits his family history and heritage and military career in his book, hailed by book critics as a truly American novel in the best of tradition. He narrates how his family tree took roots in South Dakota and Wisconsin, his childhood on the farm, interesting stories about certain family members, enlistment in the Air Force, tours of duty, transition to civilian life, and return to college, among others.
The author got the idea to write “Farmer’s Son, Military Career” only when his late wife Mary, after the death of his brother Robert, suggested that he write down some thoughts about his life, especially because the biggest single part of his life is in the Air Force.
“Too many people would tell that part of the story about me in about eight words, ‘He served thirty years in the Air Force,’ and my story is far more detailed than that,” said the author. “I started from that perspective and tried to write a story around the pictures I do have of me growing up and throughout my life. That did not work out the way I wanted, although it gave a good outline of my life story and then added pictures that seemed appropriate.”
Clarence E. “Kip” Vold’s “Farmer’s Son, Military Career” has been making the rounds of local and international book events and will soon be displayed at the upcoming 2019 Frankfurt International Book Fair on October 16-20, 2019. Make sure to check the event.
