Jeanne Campbell’s poetry sparkles in “Revolving Shades of Blue”

Jeanne Campbell has the wealth of experience, both personal and spiritual, to dish out striking verses as well as offer points for reflection and discussion in her poetry collection “Revolving Shades of Blue” (Balboa Press; 2016).
 
The collection began sometime in 1978. Campbell deliberately kept her poems hidden away in a folder all the years for reasons she deemed “not worth going into.” Nevertheless, she proves poetry as an outlet for self-expression and a cathartic process tool for dealing with her emotions and experience.
 
“When I was composing them, I felt the strength of my expression, a connection to something bigger than me, the Universe I suppose. I wrote them in solitude but never really felt alone during the process. In the private interactions with my pen and paper, I had a sense of completeness. Even though the content may state otherwise. All that I felt and experienced could be expressed and explained.”
 
Containing 111 poems, “Revolving Shades of Blue” is divided into two part: Part I: 1978-1981 documents Campbell’s coming of age as a young adult and Part II: 1992-2004 documents the revival, reawakening or renewal – whatever adjective one may prefer – of her creative powers and her search for that “…clearer face to look into…”
 
Said Campbell about her goal in publishing her collection of poems, “To engage in the conversation of the journey in hope that an individual out there is able to see that they are home; they are not alone.
 
“Having revolved through many shades of blue, I currently see a clear blue sky will floating in a calm blue sea, anchored above and below.”

About the Author
Jeanne P. Campbell was born July 28, 1960, in Erie, Pennsylvania. She left home at seventeen and moved to San Francisco, where a lot of her poetry was written. She returned to Pennsylvania, where she raised three children for the most part as a single mom as she worked her way through college. She received a BS in Secondary Education with a concentration in English and an MS in Secondary Education and Curriculum Instruction. Her eclectic interests include yoga and hypnotherapy, in which she has obtained certifications for both. Ms. Campbell is an avid explorer and embraces change as a means of spiritual and intellectual growth.
