Last Chance to Apply for IDFAcademy Summer School

From July 1-6, the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) organizes the 12th edition of the Summer School program: a tailor-made training program aimed at strengthening the narrative structure of documentary film projects in script development and editing stage.

WEBWIRE

IDFAcademy Summer School combines individual coaching with group sessions and an inspiring cultural program in a relaxed atmosphere. It offers two types of training possibilities: Script Development and Editing Consultancy. For the Summer School IDFA is looking for first or second time filmmakers, or recently graduated film school students.

Around sixteen projects in script development or editing stage (rough cut) from all over the world will be selected for the Summer School 2019. The filmmakers of these projects will be coached in Amsterdam intensively by international documentary experts. Filmmakers who are selected have the opportunity to bring a sparring partner: a creative producer, a co-scriptwriter, or an editor in the case of participation in Editing Consultancy. If a project is selected a participation fee for two persons of a total of €1250,- (excluding VAT) or in case of one person for a total of €850,- (excluding VAT) is due.

Participants will be coached by eight international documentary experts. In previous years experts like Kim Longinotto (Director, UK), Pawel Lozinski (Director, Poland), Alan Berliner (Director, USA), Menno Boerema (Editor, The Netherlands), Gema Juarez Allen (Producer, Argentina), Gitte Hansen (Sales Agent, Denmark), Jesper Osmund (Editor, Denmark) were tutors at the Summer School.

Over the course of six days of intensive tutoring and coaching, IDFAcademy Summer School will get participants inspired and ensure that they have a stronger project to launch on the international market, or a clearer vision on how to finish the editing of their films. Besides making progress on their own projects, participants will get to know fellow film professionals while staying in one of the most vibrant cities in Europe.

The deadline for submission for the IDFAcademy Summer School is March 10, 2019. More information about the programme and how to apply can be found here.
