Molly O’Rourke Publishes Children’s Book that Tackles Crying and Shedding Tears

A retired nurse and now children’s book writer finds a fun and creative way to approach a sensitive topic.

Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA – WEBWIRE

A wonderful book to help children, as well as adults, understand their emotions!

What better way to teach children why people cry than through a children’s book? Molly O’Rourke did just that with “The Adventures of Gleeson and Cormac: Why Do People Cry?” (SBPRA; 2013).

Published to positive reviews, “The Adventures of Gleeson and Cormac: Why Do People Cry?” is a full-page, full-color children’s book about two frogs, Gleeson and Cormac, both of whom embark on an adventure to find out why people cry.

“Do you know people cry for different reasons?” asked the author. “Children are confused when they see someone crying. They think it is their fault!” She hopes that readers will use the lessons in “The Adventures of Gleeson and Cormac: Why Do People Cry?” to teach children about crying.

Gleeson and Cormac decide one day to explore the park where their lily-covered pond of a home is located. As they explore the park, they come across several people who are crying. Yet much to their confusion, the people in the different scenarios appear to be crying for different reasons; some people are shedding tears of joy while others are crying tears of sadness. Gleeson and Cormac use their iPads to research the different reasons people cry.

When it is time to go home, the two frogs try to use the GPS on their phones to find their way home but to no avail. They do not know how to make the GPS work.

What reasons do Gleeson and Cormac find for crying? And will they ever get home? Plus, who is this new friend who will join them on their future adventures? Read all about it in Molly O’Rourke’s “The Adventures of Gleeson and Cormac: Why Do People Cry?”
