As it is said, an action is never minor when we are several to do it. It is in this conviction that the WWF Madagascar team organized the traditional reforestation last Friday. Young people from the Namako Ny Tany Committee were also there to plant the acacia seedlings on the reforestation plots in the Delimited Tree Action Zone (or ZODAFARB) in Ampangabe.

It should be noted that these planting actions started in 2017, when the WWF team was able to plant 1,300 feet of fast-growing species. The same amount was then planted in 2018. For this year 2019, WWF has set itself the challenge of planting more than usual. Challenge successfully met because 2,000 acacia trees were planted that day!

Also, this reforestation was an opportunity to report a positive balance sheet for previous years. As stated by Rina Andrianarivony, Woodfuel & Alternatives Program Officer at WWF: “The success rate is close to 100% thanks to the regular maintenances that the WWF team held. Despite some odds, about 3 ha of viable planting plots have been completed with more than 4,500 plants planted to this day. ”
