New Portable Laser Tools from Trimble Set Standard in Accuracy and Payback for Interior and General Construction Applications

WEBWIRE

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 13, 2006 -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) today announced the addition of several new Spectra Precision® Laser portable tools to its industry-leading line of products—Spectra Precision Laser LG20 Crossbeam Generator, Spectra Precision Laser HR250 Laser Receiver and Spectra Precision Laser HD50 Handheld Distance Meter. These versatile, construction-tough products set an industry standard in accuracy and payback for interior and general construction job sites.

The announcement was made at the STAFDA (Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association) Annual Convention and Trade Show.

Spectra Precision Laser LG20 Crossbeam Generator

The easy-to-use, self-leveling Spectra Precision Laser LG20 Crossbeam Generator is a rugged, one-person tool designed for a variety of interior and exterior applications. The LG20 is a highly versatile hand tool that replaces a level, square, plumb bob, chalk, and optical instrument for faster completion and increased accuracy on the job site. Self-leveling and universal accessories provide fast, accurate setup and eliminate leveling with bubble vials. The LG20 is ideal for general contractors, framers, cabinet installers, remodelers, drywallers, acoustical ceiling installers, deck installers as well as small general construction level/plumb contractors.

The rugged LG20 Crossbeam Generator can withstand a drop of up to 1 m (3 ft) directly onto concrete. The super-bright laser diode emits a sharp beam that can be seen at a distance up to 30 m (100 ft) visually, and operates to 75 m (250 ft) with the HR250 Receiver. The LG20 was developed specifically to operate in both horizontal and vertical modes in a wide variety of interior and general contractor applications, including:

Building walls
Acoustical ceilings
Drywall track installation
Cabinet installation
Short-range layout
Trim layout
Exterior building decks
Septic tank installation

Spectra Precision Laser HR250 Laser Receiver

Feature-packed and developed for use with the LG20 Crossbeam Generator, the optional Spectra Precision Laser HR250 Laser Receiver is a versatile, economical laser for long-range interior and exterior applications up to 75 m (250 ft). The HR250 Laser Receiver features highly visible simultaneous front LEDs with green on-grade indicator that can be easily seen indoors or outdoors over long distances. Marking notches on both sides allow the contractor to easily mark alignments and elevations, plus the strong composite housing offers superior protection against damage due to dropping. The LG20 laser beam provides a horizontal elevation plus vertical alignment reference that can be picked up by the handheld HR250 Receiver or when attached to a grade rod. The receiver allows one person to easily read elevation and alignment changes across the work area for increased accuracy and reduced labor costs.

Spectra Precision Laser HD50 Handheld Distance Meter

The rugged Spectra Precision Laser HD50 Handheld Distance Meter is designed to give specialty contractors a high-accuracy, one-person distance portable tool to measure remote and difficult-to-reach places. Accurate to 1.5mm at 50 m (1/16 at 165 ft), the lightweight HD50 is more accurate than conventional tapes and allows contractors to avoid costly mistakes and reduce expensive rework. A visible laser dot allows contractors to safely measure hard-to-reach places or hazardous situations, such as large heights, factory interiors or over water, remotely or from a distance to increase safety and efficiency while providing high accuracy and quick payback.

The Spectra Precision Laser LG20 Crossbeam Generator and HR250 Laser Receiver are available now through Trimble’s Construction Division dealer network. The Spectra Precision Laser HD50 Handheld Distance Meter is expected to be available in early 2007.
