Maryville, Tennessee, USA – WEBWIRE

A poignant and delightful recollection of a life well-lived by an Air Force veteran

Clarence E. “Kip” Vold shares his wealth of experience as a farm boy, Air Force veteran, late college bloomer, and civilian in his autobiography “Farmer’s Son, Military Career” (Page Publishing; 2015).
The author’s story reflects the powerful themes of family, patriotism, vocation, and perseverance. In his autobiography, he retraces his life growing up on a farm in South Dakota, family heritage, service in the National Guard and the Air Force, and transition to civilian life, including a successful return to and graduation from college. He also opens up how he feels being the last one living among his siblings and about the loss of his dog Cindy and the “daughter that never was.”
The author started writing “Farmer’s Son, Military Career” after his wife suggested to him to tell his story, especially because the biggest single part of his life is in the Air Force.
“Too many people would tell that part of the story about me in about eight words, ‘He served thirty years in the Air Force,’ and my story is far more detailed than that,” said the author. “I started from that perspective and tried to write a story around the pictures I do have of me growing up and throughout my life. That did not work out the way I wanted, although it gave a good outline of my life story and then added pictures that seemed appropriate.”
