With proper consideration in the planning of new facilities, modern Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories should be able to address and resolve the challenges of past generation buildings while also providing a more efficient workflow for quicker turnaround of results to their clients and quicker identification of potential disease risks to the livestock population.

Mona Lemoine will be on the panel ’A Material World - Making Sustainable Choices in a Complex World’ at BUILDEX Vancouver in Vancouver, British Columbia. Learn the different design philosophies and tools that you can use in selecting materials including The Living Building Challenge Materials Red List and healthy materials, the Perkins+Will "Precautionary List", and LEED v4 materials credits. Presenters will expand on how to use Life Cycle Assessment as a transparent means to manager and report environmental impacts on construction projects, discussing the risks and liability associated with material specifications.

Cillian Collins will be on the panel ’Quality Assured Passive House Process in Canada’ at BUILDEX Vancouver in Vancouver, British Columbia. This session looks to review and identify how a quality assured Passive House process is developing in Canada with particular reference to Part 3 buildings. Presenters will review and debate how their design management and construction management processes are changing to deliver certified Passive House projects. In particular, the impact on traditional project resource models, coordination and quality assurance requirements are evaluated with suggestions for further refinements.
