Warburtons appoints Goodyear to supply UK fleet

Goodyear Tyres is proud to announce that it has been appointed by Warburtons, the largest bakery brand in the UK, to supply premium tyres for its UK fleet of 906 tractor units, trailers, rigid trucks and vans. Making 18,500 deliveries per week and with 14 bakeries and 13 depots throughout the UK, Goodyear will help to boost the efficiency and safety of Warburtons’ fleet.

As part of a three-year agreement, Warburtons will equip its fleet with tyres from Goodyear’s KMAX range*. Designed to provide extensive mileage, the KMAX tyres aim to help reduce downtime and the cost of maintaining Warburtons’ fleet. The KMAX D product also meets the requirements of the M+S (Mud and Snow) and 3PMS (3 Peak Mountain Snowflake) symbols, meaning that they will provide superior performance in adverse winter weather.

Warburtons will also trial Goodyear’s Proactive Solutions Tyre Pressure Monitoring System(TPMS). The system collects data on a tyre’s pressure and temperature in real time, allowing underinflated tyres, punctures and mechanical issues to be identified and resolved quickly. Vehicles using Goodyear’s Proactive TPMS have been found to benefit from up to 15% more working hours before requiring new tyres to be fitted, as a result of having the right pressure at all times and an 85% reduction in tyre related breakdowns.

Goodyear’s dedicated support network, TruckForce, will be on hand to provide Warburtons with tyre service and breakdown assistance throughout the UK. Drivers will have access to rapid 24/7 roadside support from TruckForce in the event of a breakdown, minimising the impact of any unexpected downtime and keeping Warburtons’ vehicles on the road.

KMAX S

The KMAX S steer tyre tread pattern features a robust 4-rib design on 245/70R17.5 and 265/70R17.5 sizes, and a 5-rib design on all others. Precise handing is a feature of these tyres thanks to a high net-to-gross ratio and inter-rib stiffeners. The multi-radius saw-tooth shoulder groove designs provide improved robustness and a life-long aggressive design ensures even wear in all working conditions throughout the tyre life. Good braking performance is maintained through all wear stages. 

KMAX D

The directional tread pattern on the KMAX D drive tyre improves traction thanks to its directional pattern with optimised low angle V-shape. Open grooves and blades assist with traction on all surfaces and shoulder tie-bars reinforce the ribs to provide tear resistance in high torque applications. Optimised stiffness and an improved late life traction ratio come from progressive centerline humps. An aggressive pattern remains until tread life end, thus ensuring high mileage, stable handling and good traction even when worn. 
Both the KMAX S and KMAX D feature premium high abrasion-resistant tread compounds for extended mileage, cool running and optimised rolling resistance. The strong belt structure of the construction resists impacts while providing comfort and durability. The robust bead area further copes with a high variability of loads, giving durability and peace of mind for the user.

All sizes within the KMAX S and the KMAX D range comply with the 3-peak-mountain-snowflake winter tyre requirements.

KMAX T              

The new KMAX T features the latest KMAX Technologies resulting in improved performances compared to its predecessor and excellent overall results. The KMAX T tyre offers superb mileage performance thanks to its high wearable rubber volume, paired with an innovative tread compound which also resists groove cracking and tread chunking.
