The Elizabeth Hospice Demonstrates Continued Commitment to Caring for Veterans

Nonprofit leader Recognized as We Honor Veterans Level 5 partner

San Diego, CA USA – WEBWIRE

The Elizabeth Hospice  was awarded the highest level of distinction by We Honor Veterans, a national program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veteran Affairs focused on caring for America’s veterans who are nearing the end of life’s journey and their families.  This recognition demonstrates the organization’s commitment to providing quality veteran-centric care to the veteran patients it serves.

The Elizabeth Hospice is one of nine hospices nationwide, with only two hospices on the West Coast, to reach Level 5 certification in the We Honor Veterans program. Level 5 partners will be taking on the role of regional mentor to other WHV partners working to enhance their programs.

“We are proud to be recognized for achieving the highest designation in the We Honor Veterans program,” said, Jan Jones, president and CEO of The Elizabeth Hospice. “We understand that veterans share a unique culture, yet many have different experiences that may greatly impact advanced illness. It is truly a privilege to serve those who have served our country.”

The Elizabeth Hospice is committed to ensuring that members of our armed forces and their loved ones have access to vital end-of-life resources. In addition to medical, emotional and spiritual support, hospice teams help connect veterans to hospice benefits as well as other resources available to them through the Department of Veterans Affairs. Through the Veterans Caring for Veterans program, The Elizabeth Hospice matches patients with volunteers who also served in the military.
