Petróleos Mexicanos continues to make progress in its efforts to normalize fuel supply. The new strategy set in motion by the Mexican Government to end “huachicoleo” (the illegal trade in stolen fuel) is effective, and we will not back down from our fight against fuel theft, a crime that damages the national economy and affects every Mexican directly in their finances.

We will continue implementing all necessary measures to end this crime, reinforcing surveillance and guarding our facilities and the six main pipelines of the country, which span 1,600 kilometers. We will also continue to use the alternative supply system using tanker trucks until supply is restored.

Our refineries and Storage and Distribution Facilities continue to supply 800,000 barrels of fuel every day, to guarantee that we will meet the demand for fuel in the country.

We urge communities, through which the pipelines are laid, to cooperate with the company, which is owned by all Mexicans, by reporting fuel theft and not becoming complicit in these illegal activities.

Petróleos Mexicanos and the Mexican Government acknowledge the support of the general public of the new measures set in place regarding fuel supply logistics; this situation will be resolved in the short term and will benefit everyone.

We also wish to thank all Pemex workers, especially our transportation personnel, who have made an exceptional effort and gone great lengths to expedite fuel delivery every day since the Joint Response Plan for Strategic Facilities was set in motion.

Together, the Mexican Government, its institutions, the general public and Pemex workers will end corruption and impunity. We will not be complicit in hydrocarbon theft. We call on all Mexicans to come together and support the Joint Plan to End Fuel Theft. Together, we will rescue our energy independence.

Pemex urges the general public to continue reporting fuel theft to the toll free number 01800 228 9660 and to the email vigilante@pemex.com
