Renowned Bartender Pete Hannah To Represent Orlando in Worldwide Bacardi Competition

Orlando, Florida – WEBWIRE

Acclaimed local bartender Pete Hannah, currently plying his trade at the Rose and Crown Pub located at Disney’s EPCOT CENTER, has been selected as a national finalist for the prestigious Bacardi Legacy Cocktail Competition.

Held annually, the BACARDÍ® Legacy Cocktail Competition aims to challenge bartenders from around the world to “…find the BACARDÍ® rum cocktail with the greatest potential to establish itself as a classic and join the pantheon of BACARDÍ® Legacy cocktails alongside the Mojito, Daiquirí and Old Cuban before it”. Ten finalists will compete for the opportunity to represent the United States in the global finals.

Mr. Hannah, who was a national finalist last year, returns this year with a new cocktail, he has entitled ‘El Trueno’. The drink features four-year-old BACARDÍ® rum, along with elderflower liqueur, blackcurrant cordial, fresh mint, and lime juice. “My drink is very personal to me”, said the Liverpool-native Hannah. “It reminds me of my childhood. Ribena Blackcurrant Cordial, Elderflower, Ginger. These are the flavors that transport me back to the time when I was a boy in Liverpool; going the matches with my dad, reading Treasure Island and Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, him manning the grill or lighting fires in the garden during our family parties.”

The competition judges its finalists not only on the quality of their drink, but on their story behind it, their personal inspirations, and their efforts in publicizing their work at bars and on social media.

“More broadly, it’s about the work ethic that my father instilled in me. I used to get sullen if I had to do things that I knew he could just do for me. But I look back now and realize it was his greatest lesson. That work ethic was the gift instilled in both myself and my sister. We aren’t people who are going to hold onto feeble excuses as a reason for not doing things. Obstacles don’t stop you, they just need overcoming. Have you really had a bad day or have you had a bad thirty minutes that you’ve allowed to shroud the entire day for you? You can train yourself to see the positive and use it as a strength.”

Hannah hopes this inspiration will lead him to a victory, and the chance to represent his adopted American home in the global finals. The United States National Finals will be held on February 6th in Puerto Rico.
