Rockford – WEBWIRE

This insightful spiritual book helps readers heal, forgive and restore their relationship with their Heavenly Father and earthly families.

David and Beverly Sedlacek published a new edition of their book “Cleansing the Sanctuary of the Heart: Tools for Emotional Healing” (ReadersMagnet; 2018).

What makes this edition different from the previous ones is that the authors, both mental health professionals involved in Christian ministry, impart insights on neuroscience (“We have also learned much about neuroscience that is of tremendous benefit to understanding how our bodies, souls, and spirits work together in wondrous harmony,” said the Sedlaceks) and touches more on the topic of forgiveness (“We have also developed our thinking and practice in the area of forgiveness. This chapter has been updated as well,” the authors added).

The purpose of the authors in writing “Cleansing the Sanctuary of the Heart” is to help survivors of many different emotional and relationship challenges heal so they may restore intimate relationship with God and others, which is torn apart by many different emotional and relational challenges – abuse, compulsive addictions, mental and emotional disorders, and relationship problems. It is necessary for the authors to walk readers through the dynamics of dysfunctional families (the source of many challenges, the hotbed of childhood trauma and addictions). Readers will learn why it is difficult for survivors to heal and forgive.

True to the purpose of “Cleansing the Sanctuary of the Heart,” the authors explain to readers why and how healing and forgiveness are part of God’s plan for humanity, why these two go together, and how forgiveness becomes part of the spiritual framework for healing. They emphasize that forgiveness is more than just an absolution from guilt and not just an act or a feeling and divine forgiveness is different from human forgiveness.

With new information and insights, David and Beverly Sedlacek’s “Cleansing the Sanctuary of the Heart” opens a path for readers to follow and find healing and restoration.
