This remarkable memoir is set to change how readers view the world and the people around them.

For about two and a half decade , Dr. C.B. Skelton collects and compiles spellbinding and inspiring stories about a Cambodian refugee named SamSan. In his book, Doc shares SamSan’s stories with his readers and with the world. Dr. Skelton’s friendship with SamSan began after his church appointed him chairman of a committee to sponsor a refugee family. At that time, he was ready to embrace the opportunity to help change the lives of those who needed refuge. However, he was not prepared of the fact that his own life will also be changed forever.

“A Simple Seller of Noodles” details true accounts of SamSan’s story. After surviving attempted, infanticide, where he was placed in a garbage can to die, he would become a highly sought-after interpreter for the U.S. and Cambodian military, and a recruiter of interpreters for these two militaries. When the Vietnam conflict ended, his appointment was aid-de-camp to the commanding general of Phnom Penh, who releases him to become the right-hand man to the American air attaché in Cambodia to assist in his effort to ferry out stealing all American aid to Cambodia by their military leaders. This assignment earns him the ire of some high officiSamSanals who have him imprisoned on false charges of drug smuggling and treason. Even bribery could not gain SamSan’s release. Dramatically, but in error, released by the Khmer Rouge, he was only free to join Pol Pot’s “death march.” A love triangle ensues, resulting in a pregnancy, and lasts for the four years
of the couple’s forced labor.

When the Vietnamese “liberate” Cambodia, SamSan learns of his wife’s death, and begins his frantic search for his child by her who is lost. The Vietnamese appoint SamSan as a small town official and speak of much higher aspirations because of his language ability. SamSan abhors the thought of living under communism and decides to defect and undertake be extremely dangerous journey for freedom, hopefully in America.

The author narrates the story of how SamSan, together with his fellow refugees, came to start a new life  in a small town in Georgia. He also recounts SamSan’s frantic search for his lost son as well as his awe-inspiring recognition of God’s hand in his fate and countless escapes from death. Indeed, this remarkable memoir is set to change how readers view the world and the people around them the same way it did for the author.

Become inspired by SamSan’s extraordinary journey to freedom as it’s set to take part in the upcoming 2019 Beijing International Book Fair. Happening on Aug 21-25, 2019, this affair will showcase thousands of great selections to the huge Chinese market. Dr. Skelton hopes that through this event, he will inspire more audiences with SamSan’s journey.
