Linaro announces appointment of new CEO Li Gong

Linaro Ltd, the open source collaborative engineering organization developing software for the Arm® ecosystem, announced today that the company has appointed Li Gong as its new CEO.

Li Gong joins Linaro following more than two decades of senior leadership and technical roles at companies including Sun, Microsoft, and Mozilla. In addition to having more than 20 US patents, three books, and numerous technical papers, Li Gong has been involved in open source technologies and collaborative engineering for over twenty years, including his significant contribution and leadership roles for the Java platform and for Firefox/Firefox OS.

Li Gong is a globally experienced technologist and executive, with deep background in computer science, research and product development, and open source technologies. He has worked in senior leadership roles extensively in the US and in Asia, having served as President and COO at Mozilla Corporation, General Manager at Microsoft, as well as Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems and Distinguished Scientist at SRI International. He graduated from Tsinghua University, Beijing, and received a PhD from University of Cambridge. In 1994 he received the Leonard G. Abraham Prize given by the IEEE Communications Society for “the most significant contribution to technical literature in the field of interest of the IEEE.”
