In this book, the spotlight is on two women who meet as roommates as they enter the Lunar Fleet Academy. One is the granddaughter of one of the original founders of the Lunar Free State (LFS) and the other is the daughter of more recent immigrants to Luna. Despite very different backgrounds, the two become close friends as they face the challenges of military service to the Lunar nation.
Followers of the Lunar Free State series will recognize some of the characters from earlier novels, but this is the story of a new generation as the “Moonies” press deeper into interstellar space.
Siers writes gripping and engaging sci-fi novels that have earned him several awards and nominations. This book, has been compared to the works of authors Elizabeth Moon and David Weber by the prestigious Kirkus Reviews, which praised the series for its female-fronted, battle-heavy galactic adventures and called it a worthy addition to a list of masterpieces.
