Harris Expands Defense and Intelligence Technology to Commercial Markets

MELBOURNE, Florida, November 7, 2006 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a leading provider of geospatial solutions for the visualization, mapping and geographic information system (GIS) markets, today announced that its RealSite™ 3D urban city models are now featured by Microsoft in the new release of Live Search Maps at http://maps.live.com. Live Search Maps is a free, online local search and mapping service that combines worldwide road and aerial maps with unique, bird’s-eye-view imagery for select metropolitan areas.

“The visually stunning Harris® RealSite Pictometry urban models are perfect for our visualization applications for Microsoft Virtual Earth,” said Steven Lawler, general manager of the Microsoft Virtual Earth project, a mapping and location platform. “We are excited about the positive response that we already have received from our users.”

Harris has conducted an extensive development effort using proprietary processing technologies to create realistic, accurate and affordable 3D urban models in support of the Microsoft project. The imagery used by Harris to create these very realistic urban environments is supplied by Pictometry International Corporation and is being used by Microsoft to depict large urban areas in the United States and international locations. Harris, Pictometry and Microsoft have established a cooperative marketing alliance to serve their core markets and customers with products that blend the advanced Pictometry system with the unique geospatial expertise of Harris.

“The Harris 3D urban models represent the highest quality and accuracy possible with commercial aerial imagery,” said Jeremy Wensinger, group president of Integrated Systems and Services, Harris Government Communications Systems Division. “We are very excited to be able to provide Microsoft and its customers with these photo-realistic urban environments, which allow the user to view places and locations at a level of detail never before possible. This is yet another example of how Harris is successfully addressing commercial markets using technology that has been proven through military, intelligence and other government applications.”

RealSite models are created using proprietary technology that utilizes data from a variety of high-resolution imagery sources as well as Laser Imaging Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) and other high-accuracy sensors. These photo-realistic, geo-specific 3D models can be created for virtually any location on the earth to support a broad range of commercial or government applications, and can include a variety of imagery mosaic and elevation data options.

Three-dimensional models are available initially for 15 U.S. cities: San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Detroit, Phoenix, Houston, Baltimore, Atlanta, Denver, Dallas and Fort Worth.
