Goin CEO Wins Award for from Association for Commuter Transportation at Nashville Conference

Justin Bergener Receives “40 Under 40” Award for Creating Community Change

“On-demand rides already exist. Now, it’s time to extend them to everyone.”

Justin Bergener, CEO of ride discovery and mobility management platform, Goin, received the Association for Commuter Transportation’s “40 Under 40” Award at their Nashville meeting. The award recognizes individuals that pioneer lasting change  in their community’s transportation landscape.

After spending his life around the paratransit industry, Mr. Bergener became the CEO of Medstar, a Washington-based paratransit company. After trying all available software solutions, he found that they still lacked what riders needed to access their communities, and what mobility managers needed for cost efficient oversight and safety. After years of research and development, Justin started Goin’s mobility integration platform in 2015 to solve these problems.

“People had to book non-emergency paratransit trips even to the grocery store days in advance,” he said. “On-demand rides already exist. Now, it’s time to extend them to everyone.”

Since 2012, the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) has recognized professionals like Justin that work to improve the lives of those in their communities. As an international organization, ACT pushes for improved air quality, less congestion, and reduced energy dependence through better commuter transportation. This has grown from walking, buses, and trains, to include rideshares and transportation network companies.

In addition to receiving the 40 Under 40 award, Mr. Bergener led Goin in participating in an FTA Mobility On Demand Sandbox grant to deploy Goin in Pinellas County, Florida. Currently, the app provides on-demand ADA paratransit trips to residents living with disabilities.
