Company Recalls Multiple Natural and Homeopathic Health and Wellness Products due to Microbial Concerns

In October, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) posted information from a Wisconsin company that produces natural and homeopathic products for humans and pets. The company had voluntarily announced a recall of six of its products for humans and two of its products for cats and dogs.

The company initiated the recall of the health and wellness products due to microbial contamination concerns. In fact, the recall notice stated, “The products have been tested and found to contain microbial contamination. Administration or use of drug products with microbial contamination could potentially result in increased infections that may require medical intervention and could result in infections that could be life threatening to certain individuals and animals.”

The recall included oral sprays for everything from temporary relief of dizziness and nausea to weight management, mineral buildup and eye irritation, and relieving discomfort from varicose veins. The items are packaged in 2 ounce bottles and were manufactured by another company in North Carolina. They were sold via wholesale, retail and through online sales. Fortunately, at the time of the recall notice, the company had not received any reports of adverse events related to the recall.
