Indeed, Allenís book is a worthwhile read thatís perfect for scholars and researchers looking for in-depth studies about the trade and matriliny of these Pacific Northwest tribes.

Wayne W. Allenís masterís thesis is a scholarly research that digs deep into how the Athapaskan-speaking groups in both Alaska and Canada have carried on a rare custom of tracing their lineage through their mothers instead of their fathers.

ďAthapaskan Matriliny and Trade in Canada and AlaskaĒ expertly presents the authorís arguments which he suspects are coming from the groupís local trading practices specifically with another matrilineal tribe called the Tlingit. Ultimately, Allen provides clarity to previous assumptions from other scholars studying about Northern Americaís matriliny through substantial evidence that connects the pieces of the puzzle together.

Moreover, professional book reviews further cement the reliability of his study. For one, Kirkus Reviews regardís Allenís book as ďdeliberative and well-documentedĒ and ďmanages to condense a wide body of research into one cohesive argument.Ē On the other hand, Foreword Clarion views this book as ďa foundation for further research into Pacific Northwest tribesĒ and BlueInk Review says that it is a ďvaluable resource for researchers studying this subject.Ē
