CPH:DOX

Submission deadline: 1/12 – 2018. Festival: March 20 – 31, 2019
CPH:DOX, Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, is the third largest documentary film festival in the world. CPH:DOX was founded in 2003. Supported by film professionals as well as the national press, CPH:DOX grew from 14,000 admissions in its first year to a record-breaking total of 97,500 admissions in 2017. CPH:DOX continues to develop and expand, presenting a program that ranges from the works of major international directors to new talent, from large-scale theatrical releases to film/video works in the field between cinema and visual art. The festival currently has 6 international competitions. During the eleven days of the festival, CPH:DOX also presents concerts, art exhibitions, five whole days of professional seminars, a screening market, and the international financing and co-production event CPH:FORUM, as well as the film production program CPH:LAB and much more.

Vilnius International Film Festival

Submission deadline: 1/12 – 2018. Festival: March 21 – April 4, 2019
Vilnius International Film Festival (Vilnius IFF) Kino Pavasaris is the biggest and most important cinema event in Lithuania. Over more than 20 years, the festival has become a highly-attended cultural phenomenon. The 2018 edition of the festival was visited by 116,551 viewers – 2,300 more than last year. The programme again focused on a variety of international auteur cinema and events that combine audience education with the film industry, provide the opportunity to share experience as well as acquire new knowledge. The programme has been divided into 5 categories: Discoveries, Festivals’ Favorites, Masters, Critics’ Choice, and Competition of European Debuts.

International Film Festival Cartagena - FICCI

Submission deadline: 5/12 – 2018. Festival: March 6 – 11, 2019
The International Film Festival Cartagena takes place in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia in March. Since its creation in 1960, it continues to host one of the most important festivals for films from Ibero-America and one of the largest in Latin America - and throughout the world, highlighting Colombian film and its international exposure. Loyal to the spirit of exchange that so well characterizes the Caribbean region, FICCI serves as a gathering space for industry professionals and their viewers. The festival has 10 categories as well as PuertoLab for works in progress.

Cinéma du Réel

Submission deadline: 7/12 – 2018. Festival: March 15 –24, 2019
Since 1978, Cinéma du Réel int. documentary film festival has been a meeting point, where the public and professionals discover films of experienced authors as well as new talents, the history of documentary cinema as well as contemporary works. The 41st Cinéma du réel International Film Festival will be held in Paris at the Centre Pompidou and other venues from March 15th to 24th 2019. Cinéma du réel gives priority to cinematographic writing and approaches, in a broad understanding of documentary that can challenge the traditional borders of the genre, whatever the subject, length, format or form. In 2019 one International Competition and a French Selection, both including short films, feature films, first films.The awards include: Grand Prize of the Cinéma du réel, Scam International Award, Short Film Award, The Youth Jury Award, Original Music Award and many more.

CAAMFEST

Submission deadline: 7/12 – 2018. Festival: May 9 – 23, 2019
CAAMFest is the nation’s largest showcase for new Asian and Asian American films, presenting approximately 130 works in San Francisco, Berkeley and Oakland. Since 1982, the annual festival has been an important launching point for Asian American independent filmmakers as well as a vital source for new Asian cinema.

Doc Edge

Submission deadline: 31/12 – 2018. Festival: May 22 – June 16, 2019
Documentary Edge Festival (DEF) is Australasia’s premiere international competitive documentary film festival and the only dedicated annual international documentary film festival held in New Zealand. DEF runs in Auckland and Wellington and includes a Gala Awards, Q & A sessions with filmmakers, special events and more. Alongside the Festival Doc Edge run other activities including Docs for Schools and the industry gathering Screen Edge Forum.
