Nestlé tops first US Access to Nutrition Index

WEBWIRE

Nestlé is ranked highest in the first-ever US-focused Access to Nutrition Index (ATNI), which evaluates the policies, practices and product portfolios of ten food and beverage companies. This follows the release of the global index earlier this year, in which Nestlé was also ranked first.

Nestlé’s performance in the global and US indices confirms its leadership and its contribution to tackling the pressing challenges of obesity and undernutrition globally and in the US.

The index highlights Nestlé’s continuous improvement of its diverse product portfolio through reformulating its foods, acquiring brands that delight consumers and reflect their evolving approach to wellness, and delivering and promoting healthy hydration. It also notes that Nestlé has an industry-leading Parent Support Policy that provides generous paid parental leave and supports breastfeeding mothers at work.

“We are proud that ATNI recognized our steady progress to meet our nutrition commitments, to transparently communicate with consumers, and to support the wellness of our employees,” said Wendy Johnson, PhD, MPH, RD, Vice President of Nutrition Health and Wellness for Nestlé USA. “As a business, our growth strategy is driven by a deep focus on how consumers are evolving, which makes our focus on nutrition and wellness ever more relevant. We will conduct a full review of ATNI’s assessment of our US practices to determine areas where we can further evolve and strengthen our approach.”
