EMSL’s Weymouth Laboratory Now NVLAP Accredited for Bulk Asbestos Testing

EMSL Analytical, Inc. is proud to announce that its Weymouth laboratory has recently been accredited by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) for bulk asbestos analysis. Weymouth is now the second EMSL laboratory in the state of Massachusetts to receive this accreditation, in addition to Woburn, MA. The Weymouth laboratory was created as a result of EMSL’s acquisition of two MA asbestos laboratories from TRC Solutions in April of 2018 and the Weymouth location was added to EMSL’s network of laboratories at that time.

Through the NVLAP program, EMSL Weymouth is now in accordance with International Standard ISO/IEC 17025. This certification demonstrates technical competence for a defined scope and the operation of a laboratory quality management system. The laboratory can now accept and test samples for asbestos in bulk insulation and bulk building materials.

In addition to this new NVLAP accreditation, EMSL Weymouth is accredited by the American Industrial Hygiene Association Laboratory Accreditation Program (AIHA-LAP, LLC) Industrial Hygiene Proficiency Analytical Testing (IHPAT) Program Participant for asbestos. The laboratory is also certified for bulk asbestos analysis by AIHA-LAP, LLC Bulk Asbestos Proficiency Analytical Testing (BAPAT) Program. EMSL Weymouth is certified by the state of Massachusetts and Rhode Island for polarized light microscopy (PLM) and phase contrast microscopy (PCM).
