National Physician Organization Creates Alliance with Medication Management Provider

New technology enables physicians to offer patients advanced medication administration capability

Clearwater, Florida, United States – WEBWIRE

Today, Averlent Corporation, the sponsor of the National Medication Management Initiative (NMMI), announced it has entered into an alliance with The Independent Physicians Association of America (TIPAAA).  The purpose of the union is to enhance patient medication compliance in order to achieve better outcomes, while simultaneously mitigating unnecessary health care costs associated with medication mismanagement.

The interaction between TIPAAA and Averlent centers on each party’s strength.  For TIPAAA, it brings a large physician and patient base to the table.  Averlent delivers its remarkable technology to the partnership.  The alliance between the entities fills an industry void: one that will enable TIPAAA-affiliated physicians to provide their patients an unparalleled and individualized system to manage their medications 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

TIPAA is the largest independent physician association (IPA) in the United States.  Its president, Al Holloway, started the organization over 25 years ago.  TIPAAA currently consists of over 700 individual IPAs.  The IPAs represent over 115,000 primary care physicians and in excess of 180,000 specialists.

Ron Riewold, president and COO of Averlent, indicates the reason for the NMMI’s tremendous acceptance in the industry is multi faceted.  He states, “We’re changing the dynamic of the prescription writing process.  Patients are starting to expect their physicians to provide them a tool to manage their medications, not just give them a prescription.”  Riewold goes on to point out, “There is no charge for a physician to participate in the NMMI and there is no cost for their patients to use the physician’s medication management system.  That’s really a win, win situation.”  When questioned about the NMMI’s platform, Holloway stated, “I can’t think of any reason why they would not take advantage of this incredible offer.”

A litany of third-party studies show medication mismanagement is a leading cause of admissions to the emergency room and unnecessary hospital readmissions.  The Averlent-supplied technology that serves as the engine of the NMMI’s system, provides extensive, HIPAAA-conforming features to ensure a patient has proper medication intake compliance.  One such distinction is the “support team.”  This feature enables anybody with a vested interest in a patient’s well being to volunteer to assist the patient with medication administration.  The support team members can be located anywhere in the world and still volunteer to help.

Riewold states, “Our alliance with TIPAAA is going to help a lot of people. It’s truly an honor to work with an organization that cares so much about their patients and good health.”
