Tieto expands its Oil & Gas unit’s global footprint, opens office in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The Nordic IT services and software company Tieto has announced it is opening an office in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The new office will concentrate on serving Tieto Oil and Gas business unit customers and strengthen Tieto’s presence in the Americas. Carlos Albano de Costa, who has joined the company as Director of Sales for Latin America, will be leading the office.

Currently, Tieto’s Oil & Gas unit operates from 13 offices located across Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, UK and USA.

“We have a sizeable customer base in Latin America and this expansion brings us closer to it,” says Aksel Harstad, Head of Sales for Tieto’s Oil & Gas Solutions. “I am positive that this proximity will facilitate improved understanding of the local industry trends and market, thus enabling us to serve our customers better.”

Tieto has been taking major steps towards fulfilling the growth ambitions for its business within Oil & Gas; earlier this year it acquired Petrostreamz to strengthen its position in the Upstream business.

Carlos Albano de Costa will be joining the Americas Sales Organization, and will be responsible for growing Tieto’s business in South America. Carlos has previously held several Sales leadership positions in Latin America, Africa and Russia.
