Nearpod, the leading instructional technology partner helping districts and schools transform teaching through award-winning software and standards-aligned lessons, today launches two new World Ready supplemental curricula, Historical Perspectives and Literacy, a Social Studies offering, and World Languages en Español, a Spanish offering. The cutting-edge content created in partnership with the Pulitzer Center and Breaking the Barrier continues Nearpod’s commitment to giving access to best-in-class lessons on relevant topics from trusted partners such as Common Sense Education and BBC Worldwide.

These two new supplemental curricula are designed to help prepare students for a connected world, where there is an increasing need for the cultural literacy, empathy and language skills that are necessary to succeed in a globalized economy. In partnership with The Pulitzer Center, Historical Perspectives and Literacy leverages primary sources and Nearpod VR Explorations to intertwine social studies instruction with dynamic media, literacy, and the surfacing of untold stories. With over 350 ready to run lessons for grades six-12, Historical Perspectives and Literacy offers four series: Historical Explorations, Historical Literacy, Global Perspectives, and Ethnic Studies.

Additionally, the company is adding new Spanish lessons with the launch of World Languages en Español, featuring content from Breaking the Barrier, a digital language learning provider. This content anchors key language-learning skills with relevant, authentic media, custom language learning widgets, and VR field trips. Centered around countries and communities, as well as the AP Spanish themes, these lessons leverage Nearpod’s signature platform to lower the affective filter and increase oral language production.

“Teachers across the country are vocal about the need for trustworthy, 21st-century content addressing the needs of all their students,” said Guido Kovalskys, CEO and co-founder of Nearpod. “Creating lessons in partnership with trusted publishers is our response to that call from teachers; we’ve made it our goal to help teachers truly prepare kids for the world that lies ahead of them.”

Nearpod’s World Ready offerings join their previous launch of supplemental curricula--Digital Citizenship & Literacy and College & Career Exploration--aimed at supporting Future Ready initiatives such as SEL, coding, and digital citizenship. Nearpod also provides a Lesson Library of over 6,500 standards-aligned lessons for K-12 topics - from core subject areas to life skills - that feature a variety of interactive, engagement-boosting tools, like virtual reality, 3D models and live quizzes. The company continually adds new, innovative content that is deliverable to any web-enabled device in a teacher’s classroom, from tablets and phones to Chromebooks and desktop computers. Nearpod was recognized by the 2018 EdTech Awards in the Cool Tool Content Provider Solution category and seamlessly integrates with popular learning management systems like Canvas, Schoology, Blackboard, and productivity apps like Google Classroom, Apple Schoolwork, and Adobe.
