Refugee Turned Activist Authors the Life of a Rebel with a Cause
Real Accounts of a La Causa Champion Debuts as a Memoir
“Mr. G’s Battle Cry! La Causa de La Raza Wants You!” by civil rights activist author Javier Gomez, chronicles his real-life travails of pursuing freedom empowerment and enlightenment of the Mexican immigrants’ rights during the sixties thru the seventies. Championing the “La Causa” banner as a revolution against injustice and dogmatism, he has sparked the beginning of a historical event which today has been acknowledged as a legacy that many are now basking from.
Gomez, invigorated by Cesar Chavez philosophy, frontlines the crusade and marches the streets of East L.A. and beyond. Together with his Chicano brothers and Chicana sisters. They bring a new voice for new leaders and new demands in the hopes of a better future for the oppressed and silenced. He has also journeyed on the history of his own people to reveal how their culture and spirit were rekindled during their feat of equality against a broken system.
Gomez’ association with Chavez made him see clearly the isolation experience by immigrants. His innate disposition to defend the oppressed propelled him to the leadership rank and positioned him as one of the most prominent voices of the movement. Both a natural leader and a rebel, his return from a pilgrimage quest with his brothers and sisters strengthened his beliefs and inspired him to pursue his renegade cause.
About the Author
Javier Gomez himself was an immigrant of the American soil. He was brought in for the purpose of having a better life. But instead, during his founding years, he battled the odds against a blind institution that continues to be racially prejudiced. Despite the obstacles, he learned not only how to survive but also how to work through tumultuous times. And with his fellow Chicano and Chicana siblings, they bravely started strong anti-war protest marches on East L.A. streets.
