Nearpod Seeing Significant Growth in the Adoption of Interactive Learning Experiences in the Classroom

The company reaches 60 percent of U.S. school districts and sees a surge in lessons delivered and teacher usage of its platform

Nearpod, the instructional technology partner helping districts and schools transform teaching through award-winning software and standards-aligned lessons, delivered over 2.8 million lessons across 60 percent of U.S. school districts in the 2017-2018 school year, highlighting the growth in teacher-led digital instruction taking place at school districts across the country.

“We’re pleased to see strong growth in the number of districts renewing and expanding their contracts that speak to our traction in the market,” commented Nearpod’s CEO and co-founder Guido Kovalskys. “But we’re most proud to see the phenomenal jump in the number of teachers and students actively engaging with our content. It tells the story of how we’re helping districts, schools and teachers improve instruction by keeping pace with rapidly changing, 21st-century curriculum while consolidating classroom technologies to simply educators’ lives.”

Transforming Teaching, Together
With more than 6,500 ready-to-teach, customizable lessons built in partnership with respected publishers like PhET,, and ReadWorks, Nearpod creates interactive learning experiences students and teachers rely on. Currently, three in five U.S. school districts use Nearpod to create and launch interactive lessons, receive comprehensive student assessments, and download and customize ready-to-teach lessons. Those lessons span STEM, civics, English Language Learning, virtual reality field trips, digital citizenship, math and more.
By combining ready-to-teach interactive lessons that are delivered synchronously on all devices (iPad, iPhone, Android, desktop) with immediate assessment reports, Nearpod has created a highly engaging classroom experience where teachers reduce the amount of time spent on lesson planning by leveraging thousands of standards-aligned ready to teach lessons.

Heading into the 2018-2019 school year, Nearpod’s adoption continues the pace that saw the company recognized as one of the fastest growing companies by Inc Magazine in 2016 and 2017. In the 2017-2018 school year, Nearpod experienced over 85% growth in both the number of lessons launched and the number of students joins.

Teachers play a critical role in our society through educating and mentoring future generations. Despite a wave of new technologies aimed at supporting teachers, it’s increasingly difficult for teachers to create relevant and personalized classroom content, keep students engaged, assess engagement and results, and, above all else, find time to customize the content that meets the needs of their increasingly diverse classrooms.

That’s why Nearpod has spent more than hundreds of hours over the last five years shadowing and listening to teachers across all socioeconomics and regions with the aim of providing teachers with the tools and professional development to support their role in shaping America’s future.

“Nearpod has been transformative in my classroom,” expressed Paul Venter, a teacher at GEMS World Academy Dubai. “I struggled to engage students and provide them with authentic experiences while also providing choice and autonomy. These are the attributes that Nearpod adds to all of my lessons. Students use their technology, read and write and receive instant feedback. Nearpod has changed how I teach. I am getting ready to take my kids on a virtual field trip to Pompeii! Nearpod makes me excited to launch lessons.”

These milestones come on the heels of six new partnerships spanning LMS integrations with Canvas and Schoology, as well as the launch of hundreds of new lessons created with content from leading authorities such as BBC Worldwide. The company also recently partnered with ISTE and New Teacher Center to increase opportunities for teachers to easily access professional development.
