Children’s Book Empowers Victims of Bullying

A person encounters different challenges every day that stray him off his tracks. These challenges are even harder to deal with when he has physical and mental deficiencies, which make him vulnerable to oppression and bullying. Chantal Louis, who faced the same affliction, created Old Rusty Daniel, a creative depiction of her life that would resonate to people who experience the same mistreatment.
 
The story is about Daniel, who is an old and rusty elevator of an exquisite hotel. He has seven elevator siblings who are well and fully functional. Because Daniel does not look and function like his brothers and sisters, he is frequently bullied and humiliated by his younger and faster brother, Robin. Despite Daniel’s weaknesses, he never hesitated to do good deeds. One day, an unexpected situation happened in the hotel where only Daniel could save all of them with the help of God.
 
The story is a depiction of the author’s experiences as a child. She was bullied at school because of her weaknesses. Her obstacles made her try to end her life, but she ultimately found peace and healing when she followed God’s call. The book aims to help people, especially children, overcome bullying. Louis reminds her readers to not give up. “The battle is not yours, it is for the Lord,” she says. Copies of the book are available for purchase at selected online bookstores.
