Opening of the XVIII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Roerich’s Heritage"

On October 9, 2018, the opening of the XVIII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Roerich’s Heritage” took place in the State Hermitage Museum.

This year the conference is dedicated to several memorable dates: the 90th anniversary of the end of the Central Asian expedition of N. K. Roerich; The 100th anniversary of N. Roerich and his family in Karelia; The 110th anniversary of the birth of Devika Rani Roerich; The 140th anniversary of the birth of S. S. Mitusov; The 275th anniversary of the birth of G. R. Derzhavin; the Year of the Volunteer and Volunteer in Russia.

The main topic of the plenary session held in the General Staff Lecture was the discussion of the heritage of the Central Asian expedition of N. K. Roerich. In the second part of the meeting, the Nicholas Roerich International Prize, established in the year of the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg, was awarded. It is annually awarded in various nominations to outstanding representatives of national and world culture and creatively bright, but not always familiar to the general public, artists, teachers, scientific and creative workers, public figures for their special contribution to the preservation and development of creative traditions, cultural and moral foundations.
