Ray Sobrino Jr. Publishes Inspiring Book to Help Children Build Their Self-Esteem

What better way to teach children how to (re)build self-esteem after bullying than through a children’s book? One that features cockroaches, one of the least adorable of insects? Raymond Sobrino Jr. did just that with “Ralphie the Roach” (Next Century Publishing; 2017).
Children will learn many lessons from the story of “Ralphie the Roach,” who gets bullied at school and deals with not being like the other insects that see him as ugly and dirty. He has no idea that his home is dark and greasy.
One day, Ralphie comes home crying. He tells his parents he is being bullied and tormented at school by a big and mean honeybee. The bully bee had told him that no one likes him because he, being a cockroach, is ugly and his home his dirty. He verbally abused Ralphie further by telling him everyone loves bees because they spend most of their time around flowers – and everyone loves flowers.
“‘Ralphie the Roach’ is a story of how to be nice to another regardless of how you live or the type of family you have,” said Sobrino about his children’s book. “This story teaches us that you may not be the prettiest of insects, but you might have the biggest heart.”
The book teaches readers, particularly children, a clear lesson that bullying is not good at school and anywhere – and it hurts. Worse, it causes depression on the victims who are bullied. On the side, the author hopes to empower bullying victims and help them build their self-esteem with his inspiring story.
