Tate & Lyle, a leading global food and beverage ingredients and solutions provider, is proud to announce it has extended its sponsorship of Enders-Salk School in Schaumburg, Illinois for a second year.

The partnership between Tate & Lyle and Enders-Salk is part of District 54 Education Foundation’s Food 4 Thought program, which finds sponsors for schools wishing to provide students on the federal free lunch program with a nutritious breakfast to help them to start the day ready to learn.

Over the first year of the partnership, Tate & Lyle has provided around 21,000 nutritious breakfasts for those students at Enders-Salk School who qualify for the federal free lunch program, representing almost 40 percent of the student body. Employees from Tate & Lyle’s global Innovation Center in Hoffman Estates have also supported a variety of school activities, from a literacy day and Olympics-themed sport day, to garden activities that help children learn about fruit and vegetables. In its second year, Tate & Lyle will expand its activities to support teachers and students in science-related projects.

“Our partnership with Enders-Salk over the past year has been outstanding,” said Jennifer Walker, Director of Global Community Relations at Tate & Lyle. “Our teams have enjoyed the opportunity to support the breakfast program and connect with students, parents and teachers in learning both inside and outside of the classroom. We look forward to starting another year filled with new projects and fun!”

“The partnership between Enders-Salk and Tate & Lyle has been invaluable,” said Michael Henry, Principal, Enders Salk School. “They have provided many of our students with the food necessary for them to be at school and ready to learn. Tate & Lyle employees have volunteered at many school-wide events and we are excited to expand their reach into the classrooms with health and science learning activities.”
