ISTE and Nearpod Team Up to Equip Teachers with Premium Digital Content to Prepare Students for the 21st Century

Nearpod pledges up to $10 million in premium digital content from education experts to help ISTE members improve classroom outcomes

MIAMI – WEBWIRE

Nearpod, the instructional technology partner helping districts and schools transform teaching through award-winning software and standards-aligned, Ready To Run lessons, today announced an initiative to provide premium access to innovative content to members of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), a global education organization with a bold vision that technology can transform teaching and learning, accelerate innovation and solve tough problems in education.

With its platform already used in over 60 percent of US school districts, Nearpod is committing up to $10 million in premium digital content to lSTE members and expands access to webinars, articles and other resources designed to instruct and support teachers on how to best use technology for learning and teaching. The initiative will also connect ISTE and Nearpod members with edtech experts through exclusive ISTE Professional Learning Networks (PLNs) that offer topic-focused learning opportunities and online discussions to keep teachers on top of quickly changing and often conflicting classroom technologies.

American education is at a precipice, with some states, such as Arizona, facing widely spread teacher shortages with one in five open positions remaining unfilled after the first four months of the recent school year. A problem only exacerbated by the lack of reliable training for educators new and old, who are expected to prepare students for jobs that don’t exist yet. Effective and meaningful professional development has never been more crucial to the success of our students as 78 percent of teachers say they haven’t been adequately trained on using technology in the classroom. This partnership will broaden access to essential training for teachers using technology in the classroom.

“Deepening access to indispensable training for teachers is something we’re very proud of,” stated Guido Kovalskys, CEO of Nearpod. “Partnering with ISTE will extend our reach, making classrooms around the world stronger, and giving teachers the tools they need to prepare students for the future.”

Combining Nearpod’s library of 6,500 standards-aligned, Ready To Run K-12 lessons and professional development workshops, with ISTE’s expert content and resources in professional development, this partnership provides greater access to resources already helping the majority of US school districts transform classroom instruction and prepare students for the 21st Century.

“This was a natural fit for us,” said Richard Culatta, CEO of ISTE. “Every year we strive to connect educators to create powerful learning communities around the world. Partnering with Nearpod accelerates that mission by providing customizable lessons for teachers and interactive learning experiences for students.”

This initiative joins a growing list of notable and respected integrations for Nearpod, including Education.com, Schoology, and a recent team up with New Teacher Center, which focuses on providing advanced professional development on instructional strategies to teachers and leaders. ISTE is also collaborating with other ISTE Corporate Members who help educators transform teaching and learning.
