FENTON, Mo., and Rochester, N.Y., Oct. 31, 2006 Creative Imaging Inc. is growing its customer base and self-publishing book business after it recently installed a Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) iGen3™ 110 Digital Production Press. At the current pace of growth, volume is expected to double by the end of the year.

“The iGen3 press helps us win new business by keeping us ahead of the competition,” said Bernard Bahn, president, Creative Imaging Inc. “With digital color printing, we are better able to adapt to meet growing customer demands for high-quality, personalized, short-run jobs produced in one to two days.”

For example, the 110 page-per-minute Xerox iGen3 press has provided Creative Imaging with more opportunities in the advertising and creative professional communities. “They can be a very demanding group of customers, but they think the quality of the iGen3 press is superior to the competition. The speed and reliability of the digital press is also able to meet their last-minute deadlines,” said Bahn.

According to Bahn, the image quality of jobs produced on the Xerox iGen3 press looks like offset printing. “The iGen3 press sets a new quality standard for on-demand color printing.” Bahn said that the digital color press also gives customers genuine press proofs so clients know exactly how the job will look when it’s printed.

Among the jobs being printed on the Xerox iGen3 press - with a Creo Inc. color server - are one-to-one marketing campaigns, direct mail, postcards, full-color brochures, fliers and sell sheets. According to Bahn, the Xerox iGen3 press’ 14.33“ x 20.5” paper size allows the company to produce jobs including posters, calendars and presentation folders.

Creative Imaging, one of the largest print-on-demand suppliers in the St. Louis area, also formally launched a self-publishing book division called No Waste Publishing. “We have printed genealogy books for six years, but the Xerox iGen3 press has allowed us to expand our self-publishing services to a wider group of authors such as children’s books, photography books, cookbooks, comic books, art books, and nonfiction books,” said Bahn. “The iGen3 press is perfect for printing books on-demand, and we are able to provide both hardcover and softcover binding to better meet the budget requirements of our customers who self-publish books.”

Creative Imaging uses Xerox VIPP software - part of Xerox’s FreeFlow™ Variable Information Suite - for programming its variable print jobs. According to Bahn, “it is the most robust, production-efficient solution in the variable-data print industry.” He said it allows even the most complex jobs to run at machine-rated speeds.

“The support from Xerox is critical to our success,” Bahn added. “Our partnership extends beyond the upfront sale and into training and ongoing business development support.” As part of that support, the company is using Xerox’s ProfitAccelerator™ Digital Business Resources collection to better understand specific industries and how the use of digital and personalized printing can be applied to those markets.
