In book, Catholic priest Michael J. Novick delivers refresher on the Sacraments

Between sharing his vocation journey and opening up about the different crises in the Church, the priest takes times to discuss the Catholic theology on the Sacraments.

Reverend Novick’s book will help Catholic clergy and lay people appreciate the Sacraments once again.

Reverend Michael J. Novick published his book “We Don’t Live in Eden (But We Can Once Again – Believe Me)” (Xlibris; 2014). The book, written over the period of almost four years, contains the thoughts and ideas of the author on the present state of the Catholic Church, memories of his journey to the priesthood, some original poetry, and a discussion on the Sacraments.

As a minister of the sacraments through which he sanctifies and reconciles God’s people, Reverend Novick deems it necessary to incorporate the topic in his book as he is concerned about the fewer number of Catholics receiving the Sacraments.

“For many years of my life, I can try to look back at the Sacraments that I have received but there is only one that I can say that I remember (and even that is a fading memory),” said the priest. “However, I know that in faith, every sacrament I have received thru nearly 44 years of my life has sustained my faith, hope, and love for the people I am now called to serve.”

The author devotes a chapter to this topic, aptly titled “Sacraments” and delivers in a language that lay Catholics will find easy to understand. “I want this chapter to be a less than deep look at the Sacraments and how the world might apply them,” said Reverend Novick, “but mostly I want to try to let every Catholic who reads this (including the clergy) to understand the importance of the Sacraments, despite a Catholic society that doesn’t seem to care about them.”

Rev. Michael J. Novick’s “We Don’t Live in Eden (But We Can Once Again – Believe Me)” will soon be displayed at the upcoming 2018 Frankfurt International Book Fair on Oct. 10 to 14, 2018.
