Reverend Novick’s book will help readers appreciate and, above all, pray for the Church and its priests.

Reverend Michael J. Novick, a priest from the Archdiocese of Chicago, published his book “We Don’t Live in Eden (But We Can Once Again – Believe Me)” (Xlibris; 2014). In this slender yet enjoyable and uplifting book, the author recounts his childhood, the factors that influenced his choice of the priesthood, the years leading up to his ordination, and his life as a priest.

“We Don’t Live in Eden (But We Can Once Again – Believe Me)” could not have come at a better time as the Catholic Church battles a vocations crisis and sexual abuse scandal. Religious apathy is on the rise among the faithful and so is ignorance as more and more Catholics are not properly catechized. Reverend Novick asked himself, “Where has the Church been over the centuries, and where are we now?”

Reverend Novick acknowledges the fact that the priestly ministry changes and, above all, challenges priests like him because God’s people change. Through his book, he wants to remind readers that priests, like everyone else, struggle with challenges in their own lives and in their vocation.

“What I hope to accomplish by writing the book is to help educate all of society about our life as priests,” said Reverend Novick. “I hope to make clear that what I write is based in simple love for Jesus Christ to offer hope to a very broken society that hungers for God, even when many don’t know why. My hope is that I can help put a little credibility back into the Catholic Church simply by having a little zeal for the faith we profess.”

Reverend Michael J. Novick’s “We Don’t Live in Eden (But We Can Once Again – Believe Me)” will soon be displayed at the upcoming 2018 Sharjah International Book Fair on October 31 to November 10, 2018, at the Expo Centre Sharjah in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
