New Products, Services and Development Plans Designed to Complement Existing Enterprise Networks; Leverage Best-In-Class Technologies

SUNNYVALE, Calif., October 30, 2006 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced the Juniper branch office strategy that includes standards-based application acceleration, IP telephony, routing and security technologies designed to work with customers’ existing networks and that intelligently integrate best-in-class technologies. The company is delivering a comprehensive, pragmatic and systematic strategy for enterprise customers’ future growth.

“Today, 80 percent of enterprise workers work outside a large headquartered-style building1. Businesses rely on remote employees to drive productivity,” said Mark Fabbi, VP and distinguished analyst at Gartner. “Branch office solutions must focus on a comprehensive suite of services to ensure increasing productivity of remote users.”

The Juniper branch office strategy offers new capabilities with a full branch solution that includes the eleven new, previously-announced Secure Services Gateways (SSG) security platforms with integrated branch routing and full Unified Threat Management (UTM) capabilities and new J4350 and J6350 J-series enterprise routers that leverage technology from the best-in-class Secure Services Gateway 500-series platforms. The strategy also includes a range of new implementation services and the integration of Intelligent Communications capabilities from Avaya, offering customers increased choice and flexibility for branch offices.

“This strategy builds on the established foundation of success in Juniper Networks’ security products. We’ve proven that our integrated firewall/VPN and intrusion prevention system technologies enable Juniper customers to achieve a total cost of ownership advantage while minimizing business risks,” said Rob Sturgeon, executive vice president, Security Products Group and general manager, Enterprise Business Team at Juniper Networks. “We are committed to providing secure, high-performance networking solutions, and now with our branch office strategy will deliver on the promise of offering best-in-class technologies and integrating them intelligently in Juniper’s well-connected branch office solution.”

“Juniper’s well-connected branch office solution will enable our customers to increase employee productivity, control costs and maintain business continuity even as they expand their business operations,” said J-Partner, Roger Kirk, president at Corporate Networking, Inc. “It’s clear that Juniper is focused on solving the customer’s problems and in bringing together the best-of-the-best.”
Protecting Branch Office Traffic Flow

The Secure Services Gateways family of security appliances was introduced to the market this year [see Juniper Networks Introduces New Family of High-Performance Security Appliances - Web link: www.juniper.net/company/presscenter/pr/2006/pr-060206.html and see Juniper Networks Expands Secure Services Gateway Family - Web link: www.juniper.net/company/presscenter/pr/2006/pr-061002.html ]. Using Juniper Networks’ trusted ScreenOS 5.4 operating system, the SSG platforms combine proven firewall/virtual private networking (FW/VPN) and robust routing with a complete set of UTM security features, including Intrusion Prevention, Antivirus (includes Anti-Spyware, Anti-Adware, Anti-Phishing), Anti-Spam, and Web Filtering, to protect traffic as it flows in and out of the branch office from worms, spyware, trojans, and malware.
New J-series Platforms for Branch Routing

The new J4350 and J6350 J-series enterprise routers leverage high-performance technology from the best-in-class Secure Services Gateway 500-series platforms. The new J4350 and J6350 join the existing J2300 to round out the J-series product line. The J4350 and J6350 offer predictable high-performance and a variety of flexible interfaces that deliver secure reliable network connectivity to remote, branch, and regional offices. The new Juniper J4350 and J6350 modular routers scale performance of up to two Gbps and feature a voice-ready architecture. The J-series runs modular JUNOS software, which offers many advanced services (MPLS, IPv6, QoS, multicast, etc.) and security (stateful firewall and IPSec VPN) at no additional charge, delivering high levels of security, uptime and performance at reduced operations costs. All J-series models offer the performance headroom and extensible memory to meet customer demands, providing superior reliability and performance, investment protection, and value for the enterprise.
Future Integration: IP Telephony, WAN Optimization and Advanced Security

The Juniper branch office strategy includes plans to integrate Avaya Voice Gateway and WAN Application Acceleration (WXC) technologies into the new J-series routers. The new J4350 and J6350 are now IP Telephony ready. Avaya voice gateway modules and telephony interface modules are expected to be available Q1 2007. This integrated Avaya and Juniper VoIP solution will offer feature rich IP telephony with high-performance, reliability and security while providing cost savings and efficiency when compared with traditional telephone services [see today’s related announcement titled “Avaya and Juniper Networks Extend Strategic Alliance with Integrated Branch Networking Solutions”].

In a subsequent phase, integration of the Juniper WXC WAN optimization capabilities into the J4350 and J6350 routers will provide compression and caching, TCP and application-specific acceleration, and visibility and reporting functions. The integration will be implemented by a WXC services module that will leverage the core functions of the J4350 and J6350 to provide an integrated set of QoS, bandwidth management and multi-path functions. Stand alone branch J-series and WXC platforms will continue to be available for customers who demand the flexibility to deploy other branch-routing products and who demand new WAN-optimization features at the fastest velocity.
New Enterprise Services

As part of Juniper’s partner-centric strategy, Juniper Networks’ Professional Services organization has developed three new integrated service offerings to support J-Partners and customers in deploying branch solutions. The service offerings include:

* Firewall remote configuration; where Juniper-authorized Professional Service experts work remotely to help deploy and configure firewall appliances based on customer provided requirements.
* Comprehensive Juniper Enterprise Transition (JET) program; a flexible bundle of professional services that includes Transition Workshop, Design Review and Transition Planning, Implementation Planning Assistance, On-site Engineer, and Knowledge Transfer plus other service options.
* Branch Office Firewall QuickStart; which combines on-site installation, configuration, and knowledge transfer with follow-up deployment support.

Available in late Q4 2006, these new J-partner services will make it easier for resellers to sell and service the Juniper well-connected branch office solution. In addition, J-Partners can use these services to enhance their existing offerings or incorporate high-margin services into their project implementation and solutions portfolio.

“As an Elite Partner and a Juniper Networks Authorized Support Center (JNASC) Support Manager, having access to Juniper service products and practice documentation has made it much easier to position Juniper products, and allows us to focus on what we do best - service delivery,” said Jeff LoSapio, vice president of Professional Services for Fishnet Security.
