Ericsson hosts Automatic Device Configuration for DNA Finland

WEBWIRE

October 30, 2006, Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has been selected by the operator DNA in Finland to host a faster and simpler activation and configuration of its customers’ handsets through Ericsson Automatic Device Configuration (ADC).

The automatic device-identification and configuration service is based on the Ericsson ADC solution. Through the managed services hosting contract, Ericsson takes overall responsibility for the service.

With the Ericsson ADC solution, new DNA customers and users automatically receive settings when their phone is switched on. Services such as MMS, WAP and the adoption of internet access become simpler and faster, both for the customer and the operator.

Tommy Olenius, CTO of DNA, says: “DNA aims to offer its customers versatile and easy-to-use services. Ericsson ADC service makes it substantially easier for DNA subscribers to adapt their new mobile phones. At the same time, DNA service development is enhanced as the ever-expanding end-user device base is efficiently managed. Hosting from Ericsson is a fast, simple and cost-efficient way for us to get this solution up and running.”

ADC can automatically detect the make and model of wireless devices on the network so that correct configuration information is sent to the particular phone for new services and updates. DNA customer service automatically receives the technical details and information about the phone. This enables customer service to become more focused and effective.

Janne Laitala, President of Ericsson Finland, says: “How easy new handsets are to adopt is a key factor when launching new-generation mobile services. When configurations do not have to be performed manually, more and more DNA customers will become enthusiastic about the new opportunities mobile communications have to offer.”

The ADC solution has successfully been available for DNA customers since the end of June 2006.

Ericsson is shaping the future of Mobile and Broadband Internet communications through its continuous technology leadership. Providing innovative solutions in more than 140 countries, Ericsson is helping to create the most powerful communication companies in the world.
