Hamburg – WEBWIRE

FLORIAN ILLIES will become Publisher of the traditional German publishing house ROWOHLT starting January 1st, 2019, succeeding Barbara Laugwitz.

Florian Illies has a background as a journalist and has published two major bestsellers “Generation Golf” and “1913”. Joerg Pfuhl, CEO of Holtzbrinck Buchverlage: “Florian Illies is a rare breed, knowing the book industry both as an author and an experienced journalist with a broad cultural background. On top, he brings entrepreneurial spirit and experience with him from founding the cultural magazine ‘Monopol’ and managing the internationally renowned auction house Grisebach. These are unique prerequisites to lead the motivated Rowohlt team into the future. We thank Barbara Laugwitz for her relentless commitment for Rowohlt in the past years.”

Florian Illies: "Books published by Rowohlt, their authors, have accompanied me since my youth. It’s a great joy and honor to work with them together with the Rowohlt colleagues in the future.”
