California City Encourages Residents to Improve Indoor Air Quality Conditions for a Healthier Home
LA Testing provides analytical services, sampling supplies and test kits to identify indoor environmental contaminants in all types of homes and buildings.
Recently, the City of Long Beach Office of Sustainability partnered with a non-profit organization to host several workshops. The events were meant to support homeowners and new homebuyers in making their homes healthy, comfortable and environmentally friendly. A key component to achieving these goals, covered in these learning opportunities, involved indoor air quality (IAQ) issues.
According to the city’s description of the workshops, “Energy efficiency upgrades don’t just conserve energy, they also create a more comfortable living space with better indoor air quality for a healthier environment. These workshops will teach participants how they can take advantage of financing and incentive opportunities to increase their home’s value, create a healthier living space, and reduce our city’s greenhouse gas emissions.”
“The term indoor air quality can cover many aspects of the air people breathe indoors,” said Michael Chapman, Laboratory Manager of LA Testing’s Huntington Beach facility. “It includes everything from temperature and humidity to particulate matter, chemicals, allergens, respiratory irritants and asthma triggers. In some circumstances, it may even include radon, asbestos fibers and dusts contaminated with lead. Some of these indoor air quality components provide for a comfortable environment while others can cause serious health concerns.”
Helping to achieve healthy indoor environments are the air quality experts at LA Testing. With laboratories throughout California, LA Testing is a leading advocate for healthy indoor environments and offers a wide range of air and environmental testing services for everything from mold, bacteria, allergens and particulate matter to lead, asbestos, radon and more.
