The American Board of Industrial Hygiene® (ABIH®) reminds employers of the need to promote health and safety programs that protect workers from occupational hazards.

Lansing, MI – WEBWIRE

The American Board of Industrial Hygiene® supports the efforts of organizers, partners, and businesses that endorse the vision of safety and health programs in every workplace in America and beyond.

In 2017, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced it was designating the inaugural Safe + Sound Week in mid-June. Safe + Sound Week was created as a new nationwide effort that calls on organizations of all sizes, in a wide range of industries, to raise awareness of the value and importance of workplace safety and health programs.

For this year, Show Your Commitment to Safety is the theme for Safe + Sound Week which takes   place from August 13th through the 19th. There are a number of organizers this year, in addition to OSHA: AIHA, VPP, ASSE, NSC, CPWR, and NIOSH working collaboratively with other agencies and associations to develop and review campaign/event materials and communications and leverage organizational resources to support these efforts. More than 150 partners have also signed up as membership organizations responsible for communications and outreach during Safe + Sound Week.

“The American Board of Industrial Hygiene® supports the efforts of organizers, partners, and businesses that endorse the vision of safety and health programs in every workplace in America and beyond,” said Jeffrey Miller, CIH® and Chair of ABIH®. “As the certifying body and administrators for the Certified Industrial Hygienist® (CIH®) program, Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP®) and the Environmental Professional In-Training (EPI), we echo the commitment of the thousands of certified professionals we are associated with who work tirelessly to achieve the goal of safe work environments for all workers during Safe + Sound week and the other 51 weeks of the year.”
