Hoboken, N.J  – WEBWIRE

John Wiley and Sons Inc. (NYSE:JWa) (NYSE:JWb) is pleased to announce a partnership with Act for Wildlife, a charity led by Chester Zoo, UK. The partnership celebrates the achievements of conservation researchers worldwide and raises money for important wildlife protection initiatives.

To drive the campaign, Wiley produced a video to inspire viewers to vote on one of six conservation programs delivered through Act for Wildlife. Wiley agreed to donate $1 for every vote received throughout the 30-day campaign. View the video on the campaign website: www.wileyauthors.com/inspiredbywildlife.

“Right here in Chester, across the UK and around the world, our Act for Wildlife conservation work is fighting to prevent the extinction of wildlife,” said Rose Gelder, Corporate Giving Specialist at Chester Zoo. “This partnership with Wiley is a wonderful boost to those efforts. Globally, species are under threat and conservation is critical, but together we can make a big difference.”

At the conclusion of the campaign on July 1st, 2018, the six conservation causes received enough votes from the research community for Wiley to make a $3,000 donation to Act for Wildlife. According to Act for Wildlife, the funds will support these programs by helping the organization to:

  • Track the movements of elephants across the Manas landscape to map potential corridor for wildlife use
  • Conduct surveys of chimpanzees in DR Congo and Gabon’s coastal forests
  • Train para-biologists (community members) to monitor Andean bears in the field
  • Annually monitor the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe in Kidepo
  • Support efforts to safeguard black rhinos in the Kilimanjaro landscape of Tanzania and Kenya
  • Sponsor four new camera traps to monitor tigers in Nepal

“Working to solve our world’s problems for future generations is at the heart of what so many of our researchers do,” said Natasha White, Wiley’s Product and Author Marketing Director. “Wiley is a leading publisher of ecology research, and we are excited about the opportunity to work with Act for Wildlife and join the fight for conservation.”
