Warrenville – WEBWIRE

A splendid collection of dazzling photographs and inspiring poems! A beautiful artistic collaboration between photography and poetry!

Raymond J. Klein published his photography book called, “Visions of Light: Inspirational Poetry. Stunning Photography.” Part retrospective on his work and part artist exploration and experimentation, this unique collection offers photography enthusiasts and poetry lovers astonishing abstract photographic interpretations of light and scenes from nature combined with luminous, inspiring verse.
“Visions of Light” embodies Raymond’s experimental spirit of photography, which he expresses through his creative use of lights and lenses and his openness to combining traditional photography with digital art. This involves plenty of manipulation via Photoshop.
The collection, however, does not only include works that are created with the use of multilayer images and Photoshop filters but also unaltered images that are still outstanding without any digital manipulation. This gives photography purists something to appreciate about Raymond.
“Visions of Light” features 40 images, which include a 1958 photo of a newsboy, and 37 poems by local poets, Lori Loranger, Zoe Loranger, Toni Partington, and Daedra Pfeiffer. Raymond enlisted them to contribute verses that will appear alongside his photographs because he thought a poet might be able to create a story of an image of geometric light – by just looking at it.
By mixing images and words, Raymond encourages photography enthusiasts to “think beyond snapshots.”
“Visions of Light: Inspirational Poetry. Stunning Photography” will be showcased in the upcoming 2018 Beijing International Book Fair on August 23-26, 2018 at the New China International Exhibition Center (NCIEC) in Beijing, China.

About the Author
Raymond J. Klein first developed his interest in photography when, as a 12-year-old, discovered his father’s complex, folding Kodak camera. He was also fascinated by those big, glossy magazines that published great images by famous photographers. From there, his life was set for photography. His father bought him an $8 film-processing kit and he landed a job at a drug store, processing mass quantity of personal pictures from rolls handed in at drug stores. While in the Air Force, Raymond made films and photographs of subjects such as squadrons of B-52 bombers. He also worked for a short time in the fledgling space program in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He later worked as a professional photographer and as a director of photography for a commercial studio.
