CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union Awards $10,000 in Scholarships

CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union has awarded $10,000 in scholarships to high-achieving students.
 
The four $2,500 scholarships will serve as funding for educational expenses during the 2018-2019 academic year.
 
The T.C. Williams Scholarship was awarded to Zoe Price of Alexandria, Va., who plans to attend Emory University in the fall.
 
The Academy of Finance Scholarship went to Saul Rosario, also of Alexandria, Va., who plans to attend University of Richmond.
 
CommonWealth One awarded two Kathryn R. Coleman Scholarships, named in honor of CommonWealth One’s past President and CEO Kathryn R. Coleman.
 
The Kathryn R. Coleman Financial Capability Scholarship was awarded to Haley King, a sophomore at George Mason University studying geography.
 
The Kathryn R. Coleman Community Leader Scholarship was awarded to Isabella Lovain, a sophomore at the College of William and Mary studying International Relations & Africana Studies with a minor in French.
 
The credit union has a long-standing commitment to helping make higher education more affordable for its members. For more than 20 years now, CommonWealth One has been awarding scholarships to student members to help them achieve their educational dreams and a debt-free life.
 
To be eligible, the applicant must have been the primary member on their own account and be a graduating high school senior or college/university student attending a fully-accredited college, university, or other institution of higher learning.
 
Applications were evaluated by a committee and judged based upon an essay, extracurricular activities, community involvement, honors and awards, employment and/or internships, and academic excellence and achievement.
