Longest range jets with lie-flat seats augment Delta’s strategic international expansion

ATLANTA, Oct. 24, 2006 – Delta Air Lines will boost its ability to go the distance, internationally, as the first U.S. carrier to take delivery of Boeing’s 777-200LR aircraft. By adding the world’s longest range commercial jetliner to its fleet, Delta will bolster its international expansion with the ability to connect virtually any two cities around the globe, nonstop. The 777-200LR is the fifth and newest model of the 777 family to enter passenger service. Delta will take delivery of two 777-200LR aircraft in 2008.

“These aircraft will enable us to fly non-stop to ultra long distance destinations across Asia and the Middle East as we continue our international expansion,” said Mel Fauscett, managing director of Fleet Planning & Acquisition for Delta. “The range of these aircraft coupled with innovative cabin features will allow customers to travel to popular international destinations in superior comfort and distinguish Delta’s customer experience among the U.S. carriers.”

Delta plans to take delivery of these aircraft in early 2008. The two planes will come equipped with fully horizontal personal sleeper suites in BusinessElite®. Delta’s fully-horizontal personal suite will feature:

* A reclining seat that adjusts to multiple comfortable positions, including a completely flat surface offering travelers a 6-foot 3-inch bed;
* A privacy screen incorporating pull out meal table, fold-out video monitor, integrated footrest and personal stowage compartment for bags, shoes or blankets; and
* Immediate access to the aisle so customers don’t have to disturb another passenger when exiting their seat

Beginning in fall 2008, Delta will add a sleeper seat to the rest of its 777 fleet. In addition to lie-flat seating, customers choosing to fly Delta’s award-winning BusinessElite on international flights will enjoy enhancements like industry-leading digital entertainment on demand at every seat introduced this summer as part of Delta’s commitment to improving customers’ travel experience.

Customers flying in economy class on Delta’s newly reconfigured 767-400 and 777-200 aircraft will catch a glimpse of the future of Delta’s on-board entertainment with award-winning, on-demand entertainment at every seat as featured in the BusinessElite cabin and select long-haul domestic flights in the United States. On all Delta international flights, customers in economy class will enjoy Delta’s new all-leather seats, enhanced food offerings, a complimentary cocktail with each meal, and soon a complimentary amenity kit featuring eye shades and ear plugs for more personal comfort and privacy.
