Hydro Aluminium introduces Bayer Business Services’ waste management system

WEBWIRE

Tuesday - October 24, 2006 - Leverkusen – With effect from October 1, 2006, Hydro Aluminium Deutschland GmbH has acquired a license for the AMIS waste management and information system from Bayer Business Services. The license for the company’s site in Grevenbroich, Germany, is for the basic system based on an Oracle database and the client with which users can access AMIS via the Internet.

“Supporting the registration of the master data and making the data available on a cross-site basis in a modern waste management system is very effective using AMIS,” says Olaf Güßgen, head of waste management at Hydro Aluminium Deutschland in Grevenbroich. “The solution offered by AMIS allows us to lower personnel expenses proportionally and enhance the quality of our waste management at the same time.”

For the introduction of AMIS, the technical processes will first be documented and, if necessary, restructured. After this, the new requirements will be integrated into the basic AMIS system, a process that will further increase the market maturity of the system. “The cooperation with Hydro Aluminium is therefore of major strategic importance for us,” says Dr. Ingo Wittenberg from Bayer Business Services. “It could act as a booster for other companies in the chemical industry with whom we are currently negotiating.”

The AMIS waste management and information system supports the quality-assured disposal of all kinds of waste and the registration of waste data. The solution for waste management in the chemical parks was developed in close cooperation between the Environmental Services Business Unit of Bayer Industry Services and the Science & Technology Department of Bayer Business Services. AMIS recently became available throughout Germany.
