Bombardier Transportation Announces New Site General Manager for its Västerås Operations

Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation is pleased to announce Fredrik Owman as the new Site General Manager for its Västerås operations in Sweden.

Bombardier provides world leading rail equipment and service solutions from its Västerås operations, which incorporates three facilities: The Åström workshop produces propulsion and control equipment for trains, the Lokverkstad workshop provides service operations, while Arvid is Bombardier’s headquarters in the Nordic region and serves as a development and project office. Mr. Owman will manage all operational activities at the three locations, including university and union relations, plant engineering, and health, safety and environment matters. He will also join the Bombardier Transportation Sweden Management Team.

Mr. Owman has extensive business experience largely gained from the power-transmission and distribution sector. He succeeds Thore Sekkenes in this role.  

Bombardier Transportation has a proud history in Sweden supplying mobility solutions for urban and mainline rail operations for over a century, and today the company accounts for a large proportion of the signaling systems and trains that are in service. Approximately 1,700 Swedish employees are based at locations in Stockholm, Västerås, Göteborg and Hässleholm, delivering rolling stock projects, propulsion and control equipment, signalling technologies and rail control solutions, as well as providing service solutions to various rail operators from depots in Kalmar, Nässjö, Falköping, Lidköping, Gävle and Luleå. Bombardier is currently supplying a new fleet of BOMBARDIER MOVIA Metro trains to Stockholm and BOMBARDIERFLEXITY City Trams to Gothenburg and it has recently been chosen by Västtrafik to supply high-speed trains for the Västra Götaland region.
